Naughty or Nice?

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Walking home from the bank yesterday (I had not laughed all the way there, though I did whistle a happy tune), I noticed a new sign board outside the coffee shop next door to my building.

The relatively new management were promoting sandwiches “made too order.”

I stopped. I re-read. I furrowed my brow.

Then I furtively glanced around. No one else on the sidewalk, no one inside looking.

I leaned in, and with my right index finger I quickly wiped away the second ‘o,’ grinned a goofy grin and kept on walking.

Now, those of you who know me well know that I am well-suited for consulting–as I have a lot of very valuable opinions and advice to share (whether or not you’ve asked for them)–and for writing and editing, as I have an odd error-finder in my brain that works something like a heat-seeking missile.

And here was a perfect opportunity: I could not just give my advice away (for FREE!), I could also implement my own suggestion, right there on the spot.

Did I ask permission? No (naughty).

Is it better for a business to have an error-free sign? Yes (nice).

Now, I already know that Santa isn’t bringing me any presents this Christmas, because I’m Jewish, but if I celebrated Christmas, which list do you think I’d make?
